Pervasive Computing Lab was established in 2008, under the Computer Software Institute, the College of Computer Science, and the Zhejiang University. The Lab formerly built in 1990's as Groupware and Network Lab.Currently, the Lab includes a professor, an associate professor, two lecturers and more than ten graduate students.

The research of the Lab includes distributed systems, human-computer interaction, databases, artificial intelligence and pattern recognition, especially focusing on consistency maintenance and information filtering in distributed virtual environment, network routing and multicast protocols, human-computer interaction in ubiquitous computing environments, spatial temporal database query, emotional recognition and interaction, computer vision based tracking and interaction, as well as to apply these techniques to entertainment and computer supported collaboration fields.

The research projects of the Lab are funded by National Hi-tech Research and Development Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China, etc. The Lab has published about one hundred academic papers in well-known national and international journals & conferences such as Interacting with Computers, Computer Communications, Journal of Computer Science and Technology, Chinese Journal of Computers, ACM Multimedia, IEEE VR etc.
